Your privacy is important to me, and that’s why I’m almost not tracking anything.
Who I am
This website (outdoorswithmax.com) is managed by me, Max van Collenburg.
Analytics
I want to process as little personal information as possible when you use my website. That’s why we’ve chosen Fathom Analytics for my website analytics, which doesn’t use cookies and complies with the GDPR, ePrivacy (including PECR), COPPA and CCPA. Using this privacy-friendly website analytics software, your IP address is only briefly processed, and I (running this website) have no way of identifying you. As per the CCPA, your personal information is de-identified.
The purpose of me using this software is to understand my website traffic in the most privacy-friendly way possible so that I can continually improve my website and business. The lawful basis as per the GDPR is “Article 6(1)(f); where my legitimate interests are to improve my website and business continually.” As per the explanation, no personal data is stored over time.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Cookies
This website does not use any kind of cookies because I value your privacy.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Email marketing
If you would like to get my best productivity tips, it’s possible to join my email list.
I only store the name & email address you give me, plus the URL of the page you used to submit the form so I can track the conversion rate of that page.
You can opt-out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of the emails you get from me.
Who I share your data with
Nobody.
How long I retain your data
Comments: When you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows me to automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments without requiring moderation. Retaining this data helps maintain a seamless comment experience for you.
Email Subscriptions: If you subscribe to my email list, I will retain your first name and email address indefinitely, even if you unsubscribe. This is to ensure that, should you ever resubscribe, I can identify which emails you’ve already received from me and avoid sending you duplicate content. Your data will only be retained for this purpose and will not be used for any other reason.
What rights you have over your data
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data I hold about you. If you have left comments or joined my email list, you can request an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you’ve provided. You also have the right to request the deletion of your personal data, except for any data I am required to retain for legal, administrative, or security purposes.
If you’re subscribed to my email list, you can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email.
Where your data is sent
Email addresses collected from subscribers are processed through RightMessage or ActiveCampaign and verified for validity using NeverBounce. Once validated, your email address will be stored in ActiveCampaign for the purpose of sending you emails.
How I keep your data safe
I take your data security seriously and use several measures to protect it.
I keep all software up-to-date to fix any security issues and use two-factor authentication (2FA) with a hardware security key whenever possible to add an extra layer of protection.
